We are on the move! Last year we experienced our first move. We moved the diaper bank out of our founder, Lee Ann Porter’s home, and into an extra classroom at Learning Connections of Galesburg. That move was huge for us. We more than doubled our distribution, were able to host scout troops, homeschool groups, groups of employees, and many new people came and volunteered with us. We loved our home at LCG but as we continued to grow we knew that a move would need to take place.
This past weekend 18 volunteers loaded up and moved Loving Bottoms into our first warehouse & office space. We have to give credit to our amazing community of supporters. They loaded, unloaded, and unpacked and shelved all of our diapers in 1-1/2 hours! AMAZING!
Growing to serve more families is our top priority and now we will have room to grow.
In order to grow, we knew we needed to be able to house more diapers, engage more volunteers, and streamline getting diapers to our partners. We will be able to receive larger diaper orders much easier. We will begin transitioning our partner agencies to pick up their diaper orders. Our office and meeting space is no longer in our storage area (and we have more of it). We will be able to have regular hours where people can drop off or stop by the office. Groups of volunteers can now come almost any time, not just evenings and weekends. We are sure there are so many more advantages with this move that we are just not aware of yet.
The best part of our new office is how many more babies and families we will be able to serve. That is the most important part, getting clean dry diapers to families experiencing diaper need in our region. 2018 is looking to be another year of amazing growth for the Loving Bottoms. We expect to send out well over 100,000 diapers this year. With our new location, the involvement of the incredible communities we serve, and our dedicated partner agencies that serve families, we will continue to changes lives, one diaper at a time.
